What Customers Say About Sony MDR-V6 Monitor Series Headphones with CCAW Voice Coil:

These have a great clear sound, not too bottom heavy like some headphones can be.they can hurt alittle after you wear them for awhile but over all these are really great headphones for everything from mixing to just listening to your favorite tunes. I have a small recording studio and bought these for mixing phones after reading some reviews.

Easily set-up, wonderful sound.Thanks. The quality of sound from these phones is fantastic.

Thanks Amazon. Sony MDR V-6 Headphones are great. Since my first set is over twelve years old, has perfect sound and is still comfortable, I looked everywhere to buy another set for my husband and was ecstatic to find that Amazon.com had them.

Metal, rock, classical, reggaeton, electric, jazz, trance, everything. I then moved on to the rest of my music library, and so far - with only a few hours of breaking-in - it all sounds amazing. After about an hour of listening to Emilie Autumn's electric violin, which has both in abundance, I have to say that my fears were laid to rest.

Being a perpetually poor audiophile who then had an excuse to buy nice headphones on somebody else's dime, I settled down to research. I've been listening to music for hours now. I'm taking a digital music course this semester, and so the class requires a pair of high-quality headphones in lieu of a textbook.

The biggest fear I had with buying new headphones was that they wouldn't be able to reproduce both sharp highs and smooth lows with clarity and without sibilance. There's a touch of bass that I can't usually hear, and I'm not sure if that's enhancement from the phones or just because I can actually hear better now, but I like it.All in all, one of the best not-a-textbooks I've ever bought, and I see myself loving these way after this class is over. After hours and hours of looking and reading ratings and trying on different styles in the stores, I finally settled on the Sony MDR-V6, having been warned away from the newer Sony model that was supposed to replace them.

Obviously the ear cups haven't died yet, but I know they will in a few years, and I don't mind at all.I just got them in earlier this afternoon, and I haven't taken them off since without it being absolutely necessary.

I have this kind of luck) it would be ugly. If you're an audiophile you probably want different sets of cans and amps for everything, but if you're a no nonsense dude like me you want something like this. I use these headphones for all my PS3 gaming and movie watching (output to Sony stereo), my Nintendo DS, listening to music CDs and varying quality files on my netbook, and practicing bass and guitar (the 1/4" adaptor comes in handy). I like that I can plug straight into basically any headphone output and rock (or soft-rock if necessary); the uncolored response gives the V6s good versatility in my opinion; i'm not interested in artificially-enhanced bass or anything, just accurate sound. I bought these because I found myself living in headphones a lot and wanted to ditch my cheap buds and clippies for an affordable, versatile, comfortable, workhorse set. I wish the earpieces could be locked into place instead of flopping around. The loops of cord above the earpieces might get taped/glued down or ziptied, because if they get snagged (could happen on a guitar tuning peg or something.

Try some out at a store if you can. I will be putting the velour replacement pads on to see what happens.Headphones are a pretty subjective subject, so your mileage may vary.

The cord and plug are sturdy, which is important to me because I have been burned (not literally) by cheap cords in the past. By then it's time for a break from vegging around anyway.

Sound is always solid, not perfect for everything but really good for anything; as many have said before, you get out of these 'phones what you put in. I have no problem wearing em for 4+ hours at a time, but eventually my ears and temples start getting sore.

I give them 4.5 stars. In my research I've found that a lot of these headphones from the early 90s are still kicking around with just an earpad replacement.

wouldn't be hard to twist them laterally, so fold them up when not in use.
